Competitions

 

There are no Flute Choir and Flute Ensemble Competitions this year.  Neil Fisenden and Tucana will run Flute Choir/Ensemble masterclasses and workshops.

Various Flute Choirs and Ensembles will play in the Foyer throughout the Festival.  Please contact the Coordinator if your group would like to be rostered to play in the foyer.

 Flute, Piccolo and Young Artist Flute Competition Rules

  • Previous competition winners are entitled to enter
  • Applicants will submit a CD (4 copies - see below) for the first round, which will be adjudicated by a Competition Committee appointed by the Australian Flute Festival Committee
  • No recordings will be returned
  • Applicants must hold a full registration to the Australian Flute Festival 2011
  • Entry fee to the competitions is non-refundable
  • The applicant's CD must be a fair representation of their playing.  The recording may be stopped and re-started between sections, but no editing is allowed
  • Applicants are advised that recording quality may affect their results
  • Successful competitors are responsible for their own travel arrangements and all expenses
  • Judges are not obligated to comment on any adjudication
  • All judges decisions are final.  No correspondence regarding judges' decision will be entered into
  • The order of performance for the final round will be decided upon by ballot
  • Competitors will be bound by their original selection of repertoire
  • An accompanist will be provided for the final round and finalists will receive the same amount of rehearsal time
  • The Australian Flute Festival Committee reserves the right to make changes to the competition - programming is still in process and the venues are not yet fixed

 

CD Round

Please send FOUR copies of your CD to the address below. Write your name on ONE CD and leave the other three copies unnamed.
To ensure your identity remains anonymous, the unnamed CD's will be numbered and sent to the Competition Committee. 
 
Include a signed declaration (one for each competition) stating the following:
  • Your name
  • The Competition you are entering
  • The names of the pieces on the CD
  • Declaration that you are the flutist on the CD
  • Declaration that it is a live and unedited performance
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
 
Entries for Competitions close on Friday, July 1, 2011. Late entries will not be considered.
